Videogame Review, Drag Strip for the Fairchild Channel F Videogame Console (Videocart-9)
Do you know the classic videogame PONG? Well, in this case, Drag Strip proves to be an example of how a programmer should NOT make a videogame in the 1970s. PONG is a thrill; Drag Strip is… a drag. It sucks beyond sucks. The engine is coughing, the gears are poor, the turning is almost non-existent, the sounds are less impressive than a door bell, the graphics look worse than a sports team scoreboard, half of the controls are never used… this game is absolutely lame and ineffective, even in 1970s terms. The “timer” doesn’t really work at all. Even if my grandparents were aware of this game, they would probably not buy it. It would be a rip-off to them and they would likely return it to the videogame store with harsh complaints. For me, with my eBay purchases, I’ve paid over $700 for a big collection of Fairchild videogames. Some Fairchild games are awesome, but Drag Strip is dirt compared to PONG.
Note: The Fairchild is a real retro gaming console, not the Nintendo 64.
