Videogame Review, Ms. Pac-Man for the Atari 2600
Ms. Pac-Man is not one of the best games for the Atari 2600. I have better games. For Ms. Pac-Man, if someone was forcing me to give the Atari 2600 game a grade, I would give it a C. It’s just a fine product. Trust me! I have better games. The Atari 2600 has much, much better games. Ms. Pac-Man was a nice ride with a touch of cliche gameplay. So many people “know” Ms. Pac-Man. That’s why the gameplay is pretty cliche. You can turn your head backwards and you won’t miss a thing. Joystick controls are awesome. It’s not just about making an important decision during a right turn; it’s also about making an important decision during a wrong turn. Readers who remember the movies for that Christmas Carol book will know what I’m talking about. Yes. It’s not just about “right turns”. It’s also about wrong turns. You will never have real confidence from just being right and positive. When things go wrong, you still need to keep that confidence and figure out a solution. Ms. Pac-Man is a very gentle puzzle game. The ghosts will act as barriers against your tunneling methods as Ms. Pac-Man herself. She will eat the fruit of life. But, she must stay away from the walking dead unless they turn blue and go stupid. Let’s ask ourselves some questions about Ms. Pac-Man. Is she in paradise? Is she in hell? Or, is she just stuck on Earth? Honestly, I do not believe there will ever be such thing as a dimension or world without pain. Ms. Pac-Man obviously experiences pain from the incoming ghosts because they tackle her with their mysterious, eternal blankets of death and she spins around like a crazy person. She’s going nuts or something. Do you remember the arcade machine for Ms. Pac-Man? Well, stop remembering the arcade machine, if you please. We are here to review the Atari 2600 game. The arcade machine is out of focus for this review. Sure, gamers in the 1980s could go to an arcade in a city far away and roll in some quarters and coin money for the privilege of playing games on arcade machines, which needed to be maintained and owned by responsible business owners; but, that’s too much assumption. If you go to your mother and ask for quarters, and, if your mother says no, you will go without gaming in that pizza restaurant that night. Money was still tight. The Atari 2600 gaming console was a personal benefit for gaming in privacy. Maybe gamers did not always want to “hang out with their friends” to play their favorite video games. The 1980s was still a time for anti-social injustice in America. You can get the idea from watching 1980s movies. Terminator in particular was very anti-social; and, the actor who played as the robot in Terminator eventually would become the governor in the state of California with mixed results of his performance. Gamers can be pretty uncool and unreal. It depends on their mood. You probably remember the advertising slogan from gaming companies like Nintendo and Sony that said:
“And, now, you can play all your favorite games on our brand new gaming console!”
Was this advertising slogan true? From reading other criticisms and reviews by other videogame reviewers, I do not think this advertising slogan was very literal and exact. Yes, you “can” play all your favorite games on a brand new gaming console. But, eventually, the gaming console will be broken and out of repair services. When a gaming console is broken, you will still be thinking about more of your favorite games while hoping you can purchase another gaming console for the gaming hobby with that gaming console. So, yes, I will eventually need to get a brand new gaming console from Atari when a gaming console from Atari in my collection is broken and out of repair services. That’s fine. I’m just letting readers know what they are in for. Ms. Pac-Man is a piece of cake. I enjoy it, but maybe I will put more frosting on top with a cherry.
(Note: I am not like the Angry Video Game Nerd. Really, I am more like the “Un-angry” Video Game Nerd. I do not get angry. Almost never.)
