Poem- “A New Book”

“A New Book”

You pick up a new book.

You read it.

Then, you put down the new book and say it’s “old”.

But it’s still a new book.

A new book is old.

The book is new and old- new and old become one.

You may think it’s timeless, but I think you’re confused.

Do you know what time it is?

The new book has a release date.

It was released on a specific date which we call “release date”.

One moment, you think it’s new; the next moment, it’s old.

But the release date doesn’t change.

History like this is permanent; the future is just suggestive.

Do you know what time it is?

Yes, “timeless”.

It’s new and old.

It’s old and new.

Who knows your age?

“Age” isn’t so rational.

Reading may be new to you, reading may be old to you.

How old are you?

How “new” are you?

You grow from height and sink in length.

Can people tell your age?

Or, do people make up stories for variations of habit and custom?

You might not think it’s a custom to read.

However, a customer must have a custom.

Customers often have disorders of habit.

They buy this, they buy that- what does it all mean?

It seems new to me and as old as the hills.

Youth is a victim of sudden events.

We just soon ignore our own habits enough for a smooth transaction.
