Videogame Review, Berserk for the VCS Cartridge Adapter (Atari 5200 Device and Atari 2600 Gold Joystick)
It’s desirable for us to understand a permanent fact over such game. What must be realized, through and through is Atari games have existed for a long time and are prone to breaking; and, from Atari games breaking and people getting Atari game collections there’s enough heat at our moment in history for videogames. The word “Atari” has been used metaphorically by American society to describe old, obsolete, ordinary elements to something- for example, Atari graphics, Atari games, Atari joysticks, Atari sounds, etc. A cliche like this indicates the public’s displeasure with Atari. While there’s pleasure our American society has with Atari, there’s also displeasure; that is, gamers often have a love/hate relationship for Atari and it’s evidenced from their reaction to the Atari 2600 and the Atari 5200. According to the public (which gets filled with unpoetic and unimaginative members), 5200 is less than 2600. Of course this is silly since the 5200 has ability to join with games from the 2600 as well as from the 5200 and thus is 2600 and 5200 all at once. For Berserk the public may be on to something. The Atari 5200 version of Berserk failed but the same can’t be said for the Atari 2600 version. However, the fact remains that 5200 isn’t less than 2600. For one thing the great Otto icon looks surprisingly bright on my Atari VCS Cartridge Adapter and his bouncing smiles really rain on my parade in a good way since my little laser guy could use more tension in his maze-to-maze progress. Barriers include robots, walls, and Evil Otto itself, and lasers usually go somewhere if not just anywhere. Harder levels will eventually land on the gamer and he’ll have to match extremes with extremes given from joystick input. Gamers have their individual strengths, thus gamers have their individual connections for Berserk that speaks in large volumes from given difficulty levels. Graphics are better on the 2600 version. That’s because, I think, all its symbols are larger and have ever-natural qualities whereas those for the 5200 version become stale and uninteresting. This is especially true when we consider any and all robotic movements from the oppositional machines. My VCS Cartridge Adapter came from Venezuela through eBay. Such an adapter moves around a bit during gameplay of Atari 2600 games but is mostly manageable and efficient. The green/yellow robots look a little sick to me. Sega Genesis 3 consoles can be smaller than the VCS Cartridge Adapter depending on sizes and recognized locations over my dark brown coffee table where all its magic happens. Each Atari 2600 gold joystick has a big red firing button although it’s harder to reach compared to fire buttons on my brand new Intellivision 2 controller; the white buttons of the latter are smaller but located on the Intellivision 2 controller better. Getting more and more into these Atari 2600 games has made me realize that our fashion in video games is very corrupted and needs adjustments from the public’s influence of reviewers and critics across the world. Loving Earth can spoil it and hating Earth can ignite it; so, we’re required by life to find our balance for video games from experiencing more of the same and more of the different as long as we’re at it or going away from it, moments on end.
