Pregnancy Poem- "Split Second to First Finish"

Split Second to First Finish

“Recovery is another surface.
Tomorrow is the eternity we can die in.”
-Alex Julian

A doctor knocks on the pregnant woman’s tummy.
This baby inside tells him to come in.
Of course, the doctor informs him that he needs to come out.
Why can’t someone arrive?  Such a little baby!

So the doctor works with her to get the babe pushed.
“When I relax you for further action and lift, we’ll push.”

“I don’t know,” says infant.  “I’ve been dancing near the muscle.”
Dr. Know-It-All has both baby and mother in tune for sonatas.
“I’ve honestly been searching you two.  1,2,3…
We’ve seen the cave in her and we’re starting
Procedures to release your life.”

A baby pours over the formal blanket to his motherly source
Before he sheds enough tears to fill dad’s bucket.
“Now!” The doctor lifts bucket to cheer more
In patient focus, “I’ve gotten your tears,
Neander Chaud!  We’ll pour your tears to those
Dead flowers and they’ll grow into your mother’s painting again.”

Like magic, almost like a treat, the doctor pours Neander’s tears
Onto fourteen dead flowers with gross ambiguities, until
The worn plants start growing into a French painting of Neander’s dad!

“What’s the meaning of love?” Neander’s mother tries to weep.

“Let’s cry like treats do near the forgotten tea from Hawaii.”
The doctor is very assuming.

They all lift nails on fingers to flesh across eyes
And a gentle radio booms out with historical sound.
“This is so beautiful!” Baby Neander points to the living painting
Before he knows much of French boutiques; thus,
He shoots great compliments at both nurses in
The Ohio hospital, who happen to be bronze twins
Who use Chinese puppets for a show on his grandma’s
Small television, so blue in mobility with a rotting battery.

“Yes, Neander!  We’ve recovered beauty to add your primary thought.”
Dr. Know-It-All puts down their book of questions
And uses a cube of ice to draw a portal in the painting.
“Now, who wants to go first?  Is it arriving or passing?”
Baby and mother look at each other while they
Take addition of blankets and ask the two nurses…
What is it?  Oh, both nurses are asked for dollars.
“What dollars!” Mother and Neander cheer, “We’ll buy
The painting that comes from death!”

“Hold on.”  Dad checks his broken watch from Europe.
(All people in the quarter see Neander’s dad through the portal.)

“Aren’t we anything from doubt?” Neander inquires.

“You’ve been on this first day outside of her tummy,
Neander, so we’re going to chase birds on a beach.”
Dad gets out cheap globes and juggles all four
Until he empowers the lit entrance by a great toss.

“Where’s Neander’s bottles?”
“Right here.” Dr. Know-It-All puts all three pacifiers on their bed.

Neander and his mother push themselves.  Their bed
Enters dad’s portal and live happily ever after.
Wait… isn’t the year two million months after Christ?  Dimensions are
Built to carry birth and death: Even with Neander’s
Bottles, milk filled with honey from Neo Vietnam,
New technology may surprise the jerk after shocking aftermath.
