Poem- "Extinction"

“Extinction”

Suppose we have a group of animals with very few members.
This group has few males and few females.
Who knows if they find each other beautiful or handsome?
A species like theirs can only go on from reproducing and raising children.
But sometimes the animals, deliberately, don’t want to go on.
We probably haven’t observed any “attraction” between the members.
Zoos have kept them safe and yet they still don’t want children.
Pandas may not want children, rhinos may not want children, etc.
And, by not having children they are ending the futures of grandchildren.
Here virginity is the act of destruction by an endangered species.
Ideas like “love” and “help” are evolutionary; these animals have neither.
Just for the sakes of private living do they exist at all.
No member in the group even thinks about continuing their existence.
Everything about them is self-defeating.
Can’t these animals share?
Can’t these animals hug and embrace one another?
Loneliness shouldn’t be so forced on themselves over private matters.

Diseases often work this way- that is, for one’s wisdom in self-destruction.
