Poem- “Soda Prayer”

“Soda Prayer”

I’ll have to dry your smile by a word.
Water is made from the bottle.
Eyes leave it coming.
More tears blink out within reach.
Sight is distant, ever distant.
A drink gets served by the older hand.
Fill up your tank- there’s a road trip coming soon.
Roads burn over sunshine.
California becomes a tall order of thirst for knowledge.
Vision returns as to promise before leaning on light for tongues.
People arrive of it.
Dreams eventually vanish in thin air.
Like a drop or miles to the gallon, my hunger connects to yours.
