Videogame Review, Galaxian for the Atari 65XE Home Computer (w/ Brand New Atari 7800 Joypad)

The past is worth looking at; in fact, the past can be better than the present.  We have to consider true quality and not get so distracted from packaging even if the notion for Galaxian is met in earnest for the higher reaches of points.  Enemies in this space shooter come in a variety of colors- red, yellow, blue, and so forth.  Vision is built from the ground up into space concerning the relations between many an opportunity.  Who would think that the past is completely behind us when Atari, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and others are still issuing these old, classic games for the modern market?  My Atari 7800 joypad definitely speaks in precision although the movements will have to be made in big steps along the plane under the stars.  You’ll have to excuse me for showing great brightness in connection with the ongoing battles heading into space across the waves of Martians, who might help, or just destroy a little hero.  Controls should be understated in terms of magnitude- a thumbstick manages a little hero who must locate himself against the evil invaders, of a fire button or two for means of offense.  Lines go in formation from round to round and a special touch can be realized within grasp.  Stars aren’t so easy to find when the ongoing invaders remain in full quarters in stillness or flight; enemies in flight can be worth more points, where desperation transforms into a bigger problem over the battle fields in scope for diminishing and increasing alien confrontations.  Challenges can be fresh alternatives as difficulty is selected by a touch, pause in waiting on the keyboard, the Atari 7800 joypad being more comfortable than Nintendo’s old NES controllers.  (For one thing, the red fire buttons are huge, easy to push, and the thumbstick moves almost without effort in engagement for alien battles.)  Battles are started with the keyboard; pushing the huge red fire buttons is useful during conflict but not so much in “pulling the knob”.  Pausing is revealing enough.  It’s actually Galaxian for the Atari 5200 console which takes the cake for best control: it’s analog, rapid, and very precise.  My Atari home computer is reconditioned, still.  Working with the best comfort can be a sweet surprise; however, the Atari 5200 controllers (joystick, trackball) give more definitions for the movements against an army of Martians, and, from playing this home computer game with said joypad device, there’s enhancement founded on ergonomics rather than a huge blast from the past.  Even with this said I’m more than happy to give in to the picture during conflict as my Atari 5200 console sits in a corner for later use.
